About the Campus Ministers

Don Ehlers   Marjean Ehlers
Don and Marjean Ehlers are veterans at Campus Ministry. They have been the Co-Directors at the Wesley Foundation at Northwest for over 30 years. Before moving to Maryville in 1980, they spent 5 1/2 years in Campus Ministry at the University of Northern Iowa. Along with their Campus Ministry work, Don and Marjean are Licensed Professional Counselors

They provide counseling services to:
  • University faculty
  • Staff, and students
  • Clients from the surrounding communities.

About Don

Along with being a Campus Minister, Don Ehlers is:
  • An Ordained Deacon in the United Methodist Church
  • A Licensed Professional Counselor
  • A Professional musician
  • National Consultant for Ministry Internship Programs through GBHEM
Education:
  • Bachelor of science degree in psychology from Iowa State University
  • Master's degree in counseling from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls
  • A Doctor of Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Don completed his ministerial course work at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1996, Don served at the General Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was involved in the legislative changes pertaining to the order of the ministry within the United Methodist Church. Don is also a current member of the Ministry Preparation Resource Team of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry and a member of the Missouri Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. In 2003, Don was elected by the Missouri Conference to serve on the General/Jurisdictional Conference Delegation. Don is currently serving on the Pony Express District Ordained Ministry Team. Don also is an Adjunct Instructor at Northwest in the Psychology/Sociology/Counseling Department.

About Marjean

Marjean Potter Ehlers is an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church.

Education:
  • Bachelor of science degree, concentration of psychology & sociology from Northwest Missouri State University.
  • Master's degree in counseling from the University of Northern Iowa
  • Doctor of Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Currently, she also touches the community with her ministry as Visitation Minister for First United Methodist Church in Maryville. Marjean, also, finished her seminary work at St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. Some of her special interests include, worship leadership, women and children's issues, pre-marriage work, and family relationship guidance.
Don and Marjean keep very active with their children: Justis, married to Gina continues his postion on the faculty of the Cole Eye Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. Gina is a Social Worker at the Cleveland Clinic, as well. They have a daughter, Adelyn; Jesmin, married to Karen, has begun his practice as an Emergency Medicine Physician at the Olathe Medical Center and Miami County Medical Center. Jesmin and Karen have one son, Nolan, and expecting a daughter in August; Jacob, graduated from his Physician Assistant Program at the A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ on August 6---Waiting to hear where his job will take him; and Julia, begins her last year in her clinical work toward her BSN at Central Methodist University!.
