Spring Break Trip Information

Schedule of Arrival:
All is hurricane recovery work from Hurrican Katrina(2005). Transportation: Northwest Wesley will be traveling together. Work Teams: The work teams will be determined once information is received on individual skills. Preparation: Pray for the mission trip. Departure: Details to be announced. A Typical Day's Schedule: Up about 6 am. Breakfast, pack lunches to take to the work sites. If there is much roofing and depending on the heat and light, we may leave by 7 am, otherwise it will be about 7:45 am. Work until about 4 pm and return to church for showers with supper at 6 pm. After supper the schedule will i nclude activities, from talent show to swimming to gym time to games and movies, hopefully a beach night, group sharing and worship. Food: We have cooks that volunteer for the week. They will prepare breakfast and supper each day. All food is provided. we ask that each gruop plan to eat all meals with the total group. If you are wanting to eat out at a special restaurant, please plan that on the travel days or Sunday night when you arrive. Each morning, persons will pack their own lunch and put it in a cooler that is going to your worksite. What to bring: Personal items, sleeping bag, pillow, towel, swim suit, work clothes (needs to be conservative, shorts and t-shirts are best), work shoes (tennis shoes will work), clothes for the evening, Bible, cot or air mattress, work gloves, sunglasses, sun screen, insect repellant, a pack of masks for dust, protectice eye wear, (glasses or goggles) flashlight, shower shoes (optional). If you are in need of a sleeping bag, there are some available at Wesley. Electric Devices: be careful what you bring in case of loss or damage. Forms: There are several forms each person needs to fill out before they can go on the trip. Registration Deadline: March 1, 2010. Fees: (yet to be determined). (Scholarships are available.) | On-Site Guidelines No alcohol, drugs, or other illegal substances Refer to leader any changes, suggestions, or concerns. Work to acceptable standards. Do the best you can-if not better! Ask questions if you don't know how or what to do next. Don't assume you know the entire building plan. Ask before you start a new project. Wear modest clothing--shoulders covered and loose fitting shorts that are long enough.--sensible, safe shoes. Use Sunscreen lotion or oil for outside work or play. Foul or undesirable language is not permitted. Keep workspace and living space neat and clean. Don't criticize, gossip, or start rumors. |
